As a former contributor to the OkayPlayer reviews section, I can't help but continue to scour the site's (in)famous message boards. Like on any other forums, you have to skim through some nonsense and hater-ade-fueled posts. But every now and then, you can find some real gems that you might find only if you follow Questlove on Twitter. I was lucky enough to find that he had posted a stream of The Roots performing NWA's classic "Straight Outta Compton" with Ice Cube, who sat in with the band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. Cube, of course, handles his own part while Black Thought and guitarist Capt. Kirk tackle MC Ren and Eazy-E's verses, respectively. And it makes for one hell of a treat for this long weekend.
You can stream The Roots and Ice Cube's rendition of "Straight Outta Compton" on Questlove's Swift.FM or download it here. Here's hoping that download link doesn't get zapped.
damn. this was awesome. Cube sounds the same as he did a zillion years ago on the track.
Awesome. He doesn't quite sound as angry as he did then, but maybe that's to be expected...
Jimmy Fallon's show would be so awesome if Jimmy Fallon weren't on it.

Cube still has it...unfortunately, he chooses to make "Are We There Yet" -type movies instead of rapping nowadays.
