Hurricane Chris

"Halle Berry (She's Fine)" (Video)

Of all the ringtone rap hits of the '06/'07 era (like "Crank That," "Throw Some D's," "This Is Why I'm Hot," "Low," "Party Like a Rock Star") Hurricane Chris's "A Bay Bay" is the only one I don't drastically reach the radio dial to avoid. There's something about the way Hurricane raps entirely out of his nose, and he never, ever lets you forget the hook (he even says it in the verses) ropes me in somehow. Call it a guilty pleasure if you want, but I don't even really feel all that guilty about it.

Hurricane Chris is back with a new single, "Halle Berry (She's Fine)," that has inspired a YouTube meme were young people do a dance called "The Halle Berry" (you basically act like you're holding a mirror, and look as dumb as possible). The song's been out for close to five months, and Berry herself even danced to it on Ellen's show last month, but now there's finally an official music video out. The clip looks like it was shot on a budget of about $1000, $900 of which went to paying the platoon of female models that do the Halle Berry during the video.

I wonder if Hurricane Chris and his people tried to get Berry to be in the video, but then realized she doesn't do music videos unless she gets to make out with Fred Durst. [Videogum]

Well, I listened to the song and I absolutely feel that it is disrespectful to women in general, not just Halle Berry. The fact that Halle Berry actually DANCED it to it just further renforces the idea that women can be treated as objects and can make a living simply off of looking dumb yet pretty to the man. It is an DISGUSTING concept and just goes to show how we as a society have accepted the fact that women have no worth & thus deserve no respect and that their main role is to service men with sex and be a subordinate housewife who rears children. SIMPLY PUT: ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!! peace.
