I had a ridiculous moment during Christmas break from school this year when I spent a whole day playing WWF No Mercy on Nintendo 64 at my parent’s house while listening to Hot Chip’s new album Made in the Dark: the album actually has a song called “Wrestlers” that namechecks pay-per-views like Summerslam and wrestlers like Jerry “The King” Lawler. Oh, the irony.
Here’s a funny video for the song featuring LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and Chip’s Alexis Taylor training to wrestle each other for a lover’s affections. The clip really plays on the song’s inherent goofiness (“Monday night means wrestling”).
Made in the Dark is out now via DFA/Astralwerks. [Pitchfork]
