It could be argued that "I Feel Better," from Hot Chip's recent One Life Stand, doesn't really need a remix. It already has a powerful pulse, and some straight up teflon vocal hooks from Alexis Taylor. However, I thought all of this before the possibility of Bonnie "Prince" Billy riffing on the track came to mind, after which I suddenly thought it was completely necessary (no sarcasm).
Will Oldham lends his mournful croon to an extended version of the cut, his weathered voice acting as a stark foil to Taylor's choir-boy vocal acrobatics. There's also some seemingly off-the-cuff spoken word segments in the middle, which are punctuated by what sounds like Oldham laughing a couple of times. It's not the first time the Lousiville musician has appeared as a hook-provider. The first time I even heard the guy was on Sage Francis' "Sea Lion" of all places.
"I Feel Bonnie" appears on the I Feel Better EP, which can be downloaded from iTunes now.
somehow just heard this... amazingness.
