Hot Chip: "Brothers" (Caribou Remix)

Caribou's remix of Hot Chip's "Brothers" is a study in separating elements. While in the original, Joe Goddard took the lead vocals, Daniel Snaith's version instead revolves around Alexis Taylor's ghostly backing track. The vocals are manipulated to sound like they're coming from a deep tunnel at one point, before Taylor's original voice is brought back. In addition to his tinkering with the vocal parts, Caribou takes the synth part of the original and stretches it in different directions, making it a lot more kinetic and complex.

Caribou's remix of "Brothers" appears on the upcoming Hot Chip remix EP We Have Remixes, which is due out on Sept. 6. Give this track a listen over at Stereogum.
