Psych-pop outfit Heavy Hawaii might not be from the island country themselves -- they actually hail from San Diego, Calif., so...almost. But you can certainly hear a tinge of the tropical vibes ringing throughout their latest single, "Super Bowl XXIX." As football fans might have guessed, there's also a hint of distress in the otherwise perfectly chill tune.
You see, the song's named after the 1995 Super Bowl game in which the San Diego Chargers got trounced by the San Francisco 49ers. So when you hear those noisy freak-outs, just think of them as pissed-off Chargers fans gritting their teeth as they watch Steve Young become a legend. You can stream and download the track below. It's out now as a 7" single on Art Fag Recordings.
