Hawthorne Headhunters: "Manifest Station" F. Karma Stewart & TeLuv (OG Version)
When Hawthorne Headhunters released their "If You Were My Baby" single last week, we were hearing some of the newest material from the quartet-turned-duo of rapper-producer Black Spade and singer Coultrain. The original lineup also featured producers I,Ced and Proh Mic, who left Hawthorne Headhunters following their 2009 EP to focus on solo projects. But they haven't forgotten about that effort yet as I,Ced recently liberated the original version of highlight "Manifest Station" from the vaults. The track heard on the EP was reworked because it featured samples the Headhunters were unable to clear. And while it still sounded great on there, the original take of "Manifest Station" is a true gem with its understated funk and smooth vocals from Black Spade, Coultrain, Karma Stewart, and TeLuv.
