In anticipation of Guilty Simpson and Madlib's latest collaboration, O.J. Simpson, photographer Jeremy Deputat -- the man responsible for the album cover -- brings us this live preview of the title track, filmed back in October in the Motor City. Backing Guilty is Detroit's hip hop/jazz collective Will Sessions, who've recorded with the likes of area all-stars Black Milk, Mayer Hawthorne and Slum Village, and appear here as part of the one-shot "Guilty Simpson Big Band."
The track showcases some quick quips by Guilty, who flips '90s allusions right off the bat: "O.J. Simpson / Pimpin' / I'm like Pippen / I left the bullshit to rock it." O.J. Simpson is due out on March 30 on Stones Throw. [Jeremy Deputat]
Damn damn damn. Sounds pretty great.
Yeah, I love anytime Pippen is mentioned anywhere. I was at this show, actually, and can say the sound is better here than it was at the Magic Stick. I'm really curious about how Madlib's beat sizes up.
