Gruff Rhys: "Shark Ridden Waters" (Video)

· by

Super Furry Animals mainman Gruff Rhys is the kind of guy for whom life never stands still. He’s collaborated with Tony Da Gatorra and Gorillaz recently, and has also been working on his own solo material for a forthcoming third album under his own name. The first fruits of those labors are in the form of “Shark Ridden Waters,” which was recently given away for free in the widget below, and now comes bearing this video.

This is the kind of melancholy pop tune that’s been sadly missing from the last few Super Furry Animals albums, and it looks like Rhys is slowly edging back toward what he does best. The plot driven video is worth a look too, and leaves us with Rhys parading across a beach wearing a fake shark fin and with the on-screen legend: “I am but a question mark, hovering over the horizon." What does it all mean?
