This meeting of minds between Grouper’s Liz Harris and director Weston Currie has produced one of the most fascinating and disturbing audio/video match-ups since Aphex Twin’s “Come to Daddy.” Harris provided a beautifully minimalist set of sounds for Currie’s short film, which follows a bearded gentleman in the throes of a breakdown.
It’s been a while since Harris released a full length record—two years have passed since Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill—although her audience increased significantly in 2009 when she supported Animal Collective on its tour to promote Merriweather Post Pavilion. Hopefully this is just the start of a prolific 2010 for Grouper.

That is super eerie.
