Green Day’s recent performance on Saturday Night Live was briskly excised from the Internet, so this clip from David Letterman’s show might not last long. The band performed “East Jesus Nowhere” on the show on Friday night (May 22), which is taken from the huge selling 21st Century Breakdown.
Letterman pokes fun at the album art before the band members performs the song, which is a lackadaisical punk-by-numbers track that is typical of their unimaginative (yet remarkably successful) career. Drummer Tré Cool lives up to his name by taking to Letterman’s seat at the end of the song, where he mock smokes a pipe.
