For what its worth, one of the guys that plays in the Portland, Oregon-based post-rock outfit Grails is a bartender when he’s not helping bring solid, exploratory rock to our speakers. He’s a good bartender, too, who after you become a regular, remembers your name and knows your drink.
His skills as the provider of good drink and service is an excellent representation of Grails. The band is consistent in their output and the music they shell out on the regular is almost always worth listening too. The latest track from the outfit, “I Led Three Lives,” is no different. Epic in nature, the six-minute plus song builds a journey through sandy eastern-tinged guitar lines before finally reaching the pyramids and climbing to their apex is a cacophony of drum-pounding sound as the light recedes with the setting sun.
