An Australian multi-instrumentalist who does delicate, twee-ish pop isn't the most likely booking on a late night TV show, but here's Gotye making his U.S. TV debut by doing "Somebody That I Used to Know" on Kimmel's show last night. I don't know that I can remember a song this quiet--at least in the leadup to the first chorus--being performed on live TV, and in front of a live audience no less. It's remarkable they stayed quiet enough to hear a marimba. The walk-on by Kimbra got a huge pop, in wrestling parlance, which is pretty wild.
Gotye's Making Mirrors is out now via Universal.
