“Give Us The Wind” (Video)

    Expect Future Islands’ excellent new album, On the Water, to find itself placed on plenty of critics’ year-end lists when December rolls around. Among other things, it’s one of the better synth-driven projects we’ve heard in a while. While the electronics add a harsh, cold feeling to the music, they’re also used to further intensify the emotion within frontman Sam Herring’s vocals and lyrics.

    The same could be said for director Mike Anderson’s visual take on album highlight “Give Us the Wind.” Except instead of synths and drum machines, it’s black-and-white footage of Herring, a lonesome woman, and landscapes. It’s artsy, sure, but it conveys the song’s message perfectly. Watch the video below.
