This past spring, San Francisco's Girls brought a little California sunshine to the otherwise gloomy genre of hardcore gay pornography, when they lent their "Solitude" to Travis Mathew's I Want Your Love. Now Mathew's has posted a performance by Girls' Christopher Owens, which is both illuminating and uncomfortably intimate (it takes place on Owens' bed). The performance--of a song that's slated to appear on the forthcoming Girls album--is pretty, but it's devoid of the studio trickery and theatrical vocals that'll probably make the thing soar when Girls LP2 comes out. (Also, note the sounds of cars driving by in the background, and what looks like Owens' inordinately large bathrobe collection.) [MBV]
Nice little pop song, there. If T. Swift could sing, she'd could probably do a nice version of it.
