Gemma Hayes: "Home" (Video)

In the world of the lady singer-songwriter, for every Natasha Khan pumping the sugar into our ears, the radio seems to throw us two sharp Natasha Bedingfields, straight to the kidneys. Irish lass Gemma Hayes' "Home" seems like it be an example of the latter with its overt Wizard of Oz theme, and the video's idyllic "pretty blonde girl walking alone in a field" imagery, and maybe it would be, if it didn't sound so good. Far from Colbie Caillat, Gemma Hayes sounds like Mogwai with chick vocals, which is exactly as pleasant as it sounds. At the video's end Hayes picks up red hollow-body and jams under a lone tree, which is perhaps a more appropriate picture.
