Fun.: "We Are Young" F. Janelle Monae
The stuff that comes from the Fueled by Ramen label isn't normally up our musical alley. But when we saw that Fun. was collaborating with Prefix-favorite Janelle Monae, we had to see what it was all about. And, as expected, she's made the otherwise corny power-pop anthem "We Are Young" at least stronger vocally. She provides backup vocals throughout the track, which features a grandiose choral breakdown and pseudo-boom-bap drum beat. I'm sure kids will love this -- and I mean that in the nicest way possible -- but I just wish Monae would stick to working on the follow-up to The ArchAndroid instead.
