Fucked Up started as a straight out, guns blazing hardcore band (as displayed in the recent compilation Epics in Minutes), but made their indie breakthrough with 2006 Hidden World by incorporating more experimental noise rock. Fucked Up is following up Hidden World with The Chemistry of Common Life, and if "No Epiphany" is any indication, it will be of unprecedented greatness from the band.
Featuring more tracks than one supposedly hardcore song has even seen, tape looping that would make even Mission of Burma blush, and driving, building guitar melodies reminiscent of Pere Ubu's "Final Solution," this is easily the most complete track Fucked Up has ever recorded, and will be on my playlist for a good few months before I even begin to get tired of it. This is an epic in 4:20.
The Chemistry of Common Life hits stores October 7th, while as previously reported, the Year of the Pig EP hits the market July 22.
