Fruit Bats: "One On One" (Hall And Oates Cover) (Live On A.V. Undercover)

· by

After Ted Leo did a loyal cover of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," Fruit Bats are the latest band to venture to the Chicago offices of the A.V. Club for Undercover, the A.V. Club's web performance series. On Undercover, bands pick from a list of 25 songs of covers, and shrink the list for bands coming later, as each successive band has one less cover to choose from until the last band has to do the last cover on the list. Fruit Bats chose wisely: They picked Hall and Oates' "One on One," a mellow song from the robust catalogue from the mullet and the stache. The Fruit Bats, to use American Idol parlance, make the song their own, in that its kind of rustic, and also kind of boring. It's too bad Chromeo couldn't have done this one; I have a feeling they would have crushed it.
