The jaunty indie rock of Frightened Rabbit is proving surprisingly popular in the U.S., with the band’s latest album The Winter of Mixed Drinks scraping into the lower echelons of the Billboard album chart (perhaps not so great an achievement now you only have to sell five records to do so, but it’s still something to tell their grandkids).
Jimmy Fallon’s show hosted Frightened Rabbit last night, where they played “Nothing Like You” from the album, which is the kind of strident track that is only going to endear them further to folks on this side of the Atlantic. Lucky fans in the band’s native U.K. will get a chance to see them perform with fellow Scots Belle & Sebastian later this year at ATP.
Jaunty is right. To your other point: Should Billboard change the way it measures, or should we change our perception of the Billboard charts?
