You know, it'd be easy to write Friendly Fires off as another nauseating all-male dance pop band, jocking for the attention of Coldplay fans who want to take a dip into the maybe alternative, but all of the evidence goes to show that that's not true. So far Friendly Fires seems smart and self-aware, combining the best elements of their counterparts and leaving behind the chaff. This video for "Skeleton Boy" has the band dressed in black bodysuits and looking a little like disembodied heads, until everything goes dark and they turn into skeletons. Even the most skeptical of music scribes has to appreciate singer Ed Macfarlane's skeleton dance. Friendly Fires' self-titled debut is out now on XL. [Stereogum]
Friendly Fires won me over a few months ago, supporting Lykke Li, they put on a really good live show.
I think this band is just amazing, their music sounds like no other, addictingly unique. Ed dances like there is no tomorrow,Jack is adorable and Edd,oh my, what can i say about Edd...he is gorgeous.
