For some reason, the video for Friendly Fires’ “Paris” reminds of me Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the good one with Gene Wilder, not the awful one with Johnny Depp). The way colors and psychedelic images collide remind me of the Oompa Loompa segments, while the low quality of the video looks like every movie made in the 1970s. “Paris” continues the trend of the Friendly Fires sounding like a more radio-ready Klaxons. At least they’re not annoying as Does it Offend You Yeah?.
Friendly Fires’ self-titled debut is out now via XL/Beggars. [Fader]
