Friendly Fires: "Live Those Days Tonight" (Live On Fallon) (Video)

XL clearly have high hopes for Friendly Fires’ upcoming Pala album, as they’ve flown the band from their native England to the U.S. to play some shows ahead of its May release. They performed the first single from the record, “Live Those Days Tonight,” on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night (March 23), which offers a peak at the danceable, percussion-heavy flavor of their sound. The mix isn’t the best here—singer Ed Macfarlane’s vocals sound a little too high—although things do settle into a more solid groove, with the help of some additional percussionists, and the song takes on a much more propulsive feel that’s reminiscent of a mash-up of Liquid Liquid’s bare-bones grooves and the dance-punk stylings of the Slits.
