The Brooklyn-based brother team that make up French Horn Rebellion aren't just being cute with their name. They really do use French horn -- like in their disco-inspired new single, “This Moment (Kap10Kurt remix),” which can be downloaded and is being presented here in a Prefix premiere. A full This Moment EP will drop Nov. 22.
Listen closely to the intro and you'll hear the horn (and be reminded of those middle school band memories). You can also watch a video of the song here.
French Horn Rebellion is composed of Robert and David Perlick-Molinari, who are originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. If the last name has a familiar ring, it's because David produced MGMT's indie release, the Time to Pretend EP. Since convening in 2009, the pair have dropped two singles and toured and/or played with Cut Copy, Hot Chip and Sleigh Bells.
They're making bigger waves across the pond in England, where they've been written up in NME and had a Record of the Week on BBC Radio 1. The New York Times also wondered if they'd be the proverbial Next Big Thing in a recent CMJ article.
