Freddie Gibbs: "Way 2 Fast"
Rappers love holidays. At least, it seems that way from the way they use pretty much every holiday in existence as a source of inspiration for a new track, EP, or mixtape. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. I mean, who can complain about getting new free music with a concept? Not me, especially when it's coming from Freddie Gibbs.
He delivered a new track, "Way 2 Fast," this morning in honor of Mother's Day, which is this Sunday. And it's one of his more moving cuts to date as he sheds some of his Gangsta Gibbs persona for a grim tale that is apparently a true story. He released the track with the following message:
“The song is basically a true story. I saw a lot of young females go down that path that leads to addiction, abuse and death. I always made sure that I lead my baby sister in the right direction due to the things I’ve seen in the streets. As black men we need to be more accountable for our women.”
