Freddie Gibbs: "Slammin'"
"Slammin'" is the latest advanced cut from this Indiana MC's upcoming Str8 Killa No Filla mixtape, which is dropping very soon. And it features a hi-hat-heavy, piano-laden beat, which complements Freddie Gibbs' gangsta rap bars. It also shows that he's absolutely one of the best up-and-coming MCs of the past few years, even if this isn't exactly the most lyrically creative track. There's just something about his flow and confidence that makes cuts like "Slammin'" more than worth a listen or two. Perhaps it's the fact that I find so many "blog rappers" to have way too similar of voices, whereas Gibbs stands out.
