Before he hurts some feelings on his forthcoming Cold Day In Hell mixtape, Freddie Gibbs is going to keep pushing last year's very good Str8 Killa EP. And for his latest single, he's chosen the narrative-based "Rock Bottom" that he uses to tell the stories of folks who have, well, hit rock bottom in life. It's no doubt inspired by his upringing in Gary, Ind., though I'm sure he's run into similar folks in his new digs out in Los Angeles. It's tracks like these that not only show off Gibbs' versatility as a rapper, but also the fact that few other MCs can ride a beat this effortlessly.
Str8 Killa EP is out now.
