Freddie Gibbs: "National Anthem" (Quickie Mart Remix)
Decon is continuing the push behind Freddie Gibbs's very good EP, Str8 Killa, with a dubstep remix of "National Anthem." The dark and somber tone of the original remains intact here, as do a majority of the MC's vocals. There are a few moments of stuttering added to his delivery, though, and the hook now makes way for a dubstep breakdown. Otherwise, the big difference here is the production, which has gone from dreary head-nodder to wobbly synth-banger thanks to Quickie Mart. After listening to this, I get the feeling that Gangsta Gibbs could pretty much destroy any production he gets his hands on.
