Franz Ferdinand had some widely reported difficulties with their third album, but now it’s finally here, and they’re undertaking some rigorous promotional duties. These included a stop at Later with Jools Holland this week, where they performed “No You Girls” and “Ulysses.”

This clip contains both songs, which don’t quite match up to the band’s past glories, but sound a little better than the studio versions of the songs. Franz were always a better live band than on record; I remember seeing them open for the Fiery Furnaces in New York on their first visit to the U.S. and it was a near-impossible task to go on after them (and I say that as a huge Fiery Furnaces fan).
