You might be better acquainted with Brooklyn producer/DJ Francis Harris by a different name: Adultnapper. While he has garnered attention for his dance floor-ready material under that alias, Harris is looking to give his given name some shine with a full-length album, Leland.
The record bridges the gap between his more rhythm-heavy work and that which cannot be easily categorized. Certain tracks maintain the pulse and bouncing nature of his Adultnapper alias, but on others, Francis is exposing another side of his songwriting approach: minimalist free jazz. At least, that is most certainly the case on Leland's latest single, "Pharoah in the Morning."
The track is set to be released tomorrow, Dec. 13, as a 12" single, but we're excited to bring it to you today exclusively here at Prefix. It might take a minute or two for the haunting, loose vibe of the track to sink in, but when it does, you'll no doubt be marking Feb. 7 on your calendar. That's when Leland drops via new Brooklyn-based electronic imprint Scissor & Thread.
