Friday night was the last night of Green Day's week-long residency on Carson Daly, and instead of doing more tracks from their recently released 21st Century Breakdown, they performed as Foxboro Hot Tubs, their nom de rote garage rock. As Foxboro Hot Tubs, the band performed "Stop Drop and Roll" and "Mother Mary" dressing slightly different but sounding exactly like Green Day used to sound before they decided they were political. It's kind of cool for a band to perform as an alter ego, but I'm betting most people in attendance (and Carson Daly's 14 viewers) would have preferred a greatest hits night.
Kind of an odd review. Foxboro Hot Tubs don't sound anything like Green Day, past or present. Aside from Billie Joe Armstrong's distinctive voice the music isn't similar at all...It's like saying Audioslave and Soundgarden sound the same.
