“For Love I Come” (Lapalux Flip)

After time with both the Suicidal Tendencies and Sa-Ra Creative Partners, bassist/composer Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner made his solo debut last month with The Golden Age of Apocalypse. One of its finest moments came via a reinterpretation of George Duke’s “For Love (I Come Your Friend).”

Thundercat’s version, “For Love I Come,” took the tune into outer space, thanks in part to the co-production from his Brainfeeder label boss, Flying Lotus. And it appears that the track is still circling the Earth or some distant planet. U.K. producer/fellow Brainfeeder artist Lapalux has flipped (read: remixed) “For Love I Come” and upped the galactic ante. His remix is a woozy, celestial tune that begs for repeated listens.
