Fol Chen: The Longer U Wait EP (Free Download)

Asthmatic Kitty is offering this EP for free just months after Fol Chen's debut album, Part I: John Shade, Your Fortune's Made. It features remixes of songs from the debut. Heavy in atmosphere and melody, The Longer U Wait weaves dream pop out of pretty elements such as highly produced vocals, handclaps and sitar.  Residing beneath the breezy downtempo arrangements is a blanket of longing: “You came too late/ You don’t get no wedding cake” seems to be about something more vitally lost, and the sublimely understated refrain of “You can never love me/ The sky is black above me” on the remixed Faunts song “It Hurts Me All the Time” miraculously escapes melodrama.
