Foals: "Spanish Sahara" (Video)

Foals have recorded a new album in Gothenburg, Sweden, titled Total Life Forever, which is scheduled for release on Sub Pop in May. To preview the record, the band has released this video for “Spanish Sahara,” which is full of moody snow-capped landscape shots and brooding visuals of singer Yannis Philippakis.

Hopefully this isn’t an indication that the band has gone down that wretched Travis/Coldplay/Snow Patrol I’m-so-earnest route that Brit bands seem to inexplicably love so much. Fortunately, things pick up a little around the 4:30 mark, and the song becomes more notably Foals-ian, but clearly someone leaned hard on the “epic” button on the studio console.
