Flying Lotus: "Zodiac Shift" (Sonnymoon Remix)
As it appears on Cosmogramma, "Zodiac Shit" is a two-part journey through space as Flying Lotus sees it. Or, rather, how he hears it. The first 90 seconds or so are a strings-laced, hazy ride propelled by FlyLo's ample use of bass and slightly distorted percussion. That is, of course, before it shifts gears into a keys and bass-led swirl.
As it appears in the realm of boy-girl electronic duo Sonnymoon, "Zodiac Shit" turns into "Zodiac Shift" and remains floating in the far reaches of the galaxy. The only thing grounding their remix is the pulsing, watery bass and Anna Wise's psychedelic, dreamy vocals. If you didn't know any better, you would think this was a Sonnymoon original, a true testament to their talents and the fact that they created a proper remix.
