The Flying Lotus EP Pattern+Grid World is a month or so old, but a video has just been released for one of its best tracks, “Kill Your Co-Workers.” If you’re wondering why there was such a delay between the release of the EP and video, the intricate animation probably explains it—this is a promo clip that is every bit as fastidious as the music Steven Ellison releases.
The video was directed by Beeple, aka Mike Winkleman, whose other work can be sampled over at this Vimeo page, or on his own website here. Winkleman has a love of blocky graphics, robots (lots and lots of them) and a few sly humorous touches that are an absolutely perfect match for the Flying Lotus aesthetic.
