What happens when you bring together one of the most interesting producers in the game with a badass string ensemble? Well, they cover J Dilla, which isn't really that surprising. Still, this collaboration between L.A. beatsmith Flying Lotus and the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble is pretty rad, as it mixes together FlyLo's Cosmogrammatrack "Drips" with Dilla's "Take Notice" from the late producer's posthumous Ruff Draft EP. The thirteen-minute mash sounds pretty fantastic, with the live instruments gesticulating madly, trying to interpret Lotus' wild, complex beat patterns. Check it out above. [Pitchfork]
