To celebrate the release of his fantastic new album, Cosmogramma, Flying Lotus threw a party and also performed on May 15 at the Echoplex in Los Angeles. But it wasn't your typical performance from FlyLo. Rather than bounce around from his laptop to sampling machine, he enlisted a live band that's apparently being called Infinity. I'm not too sure who's involved in the group yet, aside from FlyLo and violinist Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. They sound pretty damn great, though, especially on the above track "Galaxy in Janaki" off Cosmogramma. If this is what the Los Angeles-based producer plans on working on next, I'll be first in line to purchase whatever comes of it.
Flying Lotus's Cosmogramma is in stores now.
Freakin. Amazing.

The track is actually "Galaxy in Janaki" from Cosmogramma, but they were indeed some epic strings! Amazing set.
The band that night consisted of many of the folks that worked on the album with FlyLo: Ravi Coltrane (sax), Miguel-Atwood Fergusson (violin), Thundercat (bass), Rebecca Raff (harp), Andres Renteria (guitar?), Laura Darlington (vocals), Niki Randa (vocals), Jerry Gibbs (drums). Might be missing a person.
