“Fly Together” (Remix) F. Trey Songz, Wale & J. Cole

Brooklyn-bred Red Cafe comes through with a solid track every now and again, and here it’s in remix form with assistance from Trey Songz, Wale and J. Cole. Trey, on the first verse and chorus, is who really makes this song work. On top of guiding rhythm guitar, the rappers shoot rhymes directed at their girls about getting high together, sex and, more specifically, road head. Red pledges to “put you in Jimmy Choo and you ain’t even Chinese,” and J. Cole opens his verse by telling us he’s “been around the world twice, sippin’ iced tea.” The original version–which featured Ryan Leslie and Wale’s boss–is bolstered here by the variety of deliveries and each dudes’ clever appeal. Of course there are corny lines, but these guys hold each other down. You can stream the “Fly Together” remix below.  [NR]
