Florence + The Machine: "Not Fade Away" (Buddy Holly Cover)

By the time Rave On Buddy Holly, a tribute to one of the original rockers, comes out, we'll have heard every track of indie-rock note. Here comes the latest leak from the album, a cover of "Not Fade Away" by Florence and the Machine, who render the song into a Tom Waits-esque funeral march, albeit with a chippier tone and less skronk. This is a pretty great showcase for Florence's voice, which can crush when she lets loose. I'm sure Buddy Holly never imagined a British lady covering him sounding like a New Orleans jazz band, but then again, dude couldn't have known that he'd still be revered decades after his death.
