Another day, another leak from the Buddy Holly covers album: This time we get to hear Fiona Apple (who's been on ice since 2005's Extraordinary Machine) and longtime producer Jon Brion take on, sweetly, Holly's most well-known song, "Everyday." This isn't as transcendent as Apple's cover of "Across the Universe," but she's got the voice to do songs from any era. Listen below.
Rave On Buddy Holly is due out on June 28.
Quite excellent. Brion defies expectations by not going crazy with the arrangement... which is a good thing. Also their voices sound really nice together. I've got a recording of those two doing a duet of Duke Ellington's "Do Nothing Till You Hear from Me" which is also quite excellent. Since getting either of those two to release an album more than once a decade seems to be unlikely, maybe they should do an album together?
