Fever Ray

If I Had A Heart (Familjen Remix) (Prefix Premiere) (MP3)

Average Rating: 5.50

In its regular form, Fever Ray’s (a.k.a. Karin Dreijer Andersson of the Knife) “If I Had a Heart” is a churning, drum-less fright piece. In this remixed, beat-heavy form courtesy of Swedish producer Familjen, it evokes a watery milieu reminiscent of the water level on Super Mario 64. Familjen beefs up the song’s bare spaces with his drum machine, but is still able to preserve the song’s ever-present spookiness.

This remix of “If I Had a Heart” is slated for release on the song’s single, which will also include a Fuck Buttons remix, due out on February 10. Fever Ray’s self-titled debut is due out on March 24 via Mute, and is out now digitally.
