In its regular form, Fever Ray’s (a.k.a. Karin Dreijer Andersson of the Knife) “If I Had a Heart” is a churning, drum-less fright piece. In this remixed, beat-heavy form courtesy of Swedish producer Familjen, it evokes a watery milieu reminiscent of the water level on Super Mario 64. Familjen beefs up the song’s bare spaces with his drum machine, but is still able to preserve the song’s ever-present spookiness.
Good remix, great album!
