Memphis' Fast Planet produces a special form of ambient pop that is influenced by the likes of Thom Yorke, James Blake and Aphex Twins (just to name a few). The four-piece successfully meshes 808 beats with atmospheric soundscapes and soaring guitars, creating a textured hybrid of indie-pop and R&B.
Today, we are happy to premiere the music video for "Columbus," the second single off the quartet's debut album Jes. The clip stars a young boy bullying other kids at a birthday party. It's pretty straightforward until the boy throws a masked action figure into the pool, dives in and gets pulled under by a real-life version of the doll. The visuals are eerily beautiful when paired with Fast Planet's slow-burning ambience and Brandon Herrington's wistful crooning.
