Fashawn: "Going Home"
Fresno rapper Fashawn has some serious ambition, no doubt. The past few years he’s been hard at work on the mixtape circuit dropping collaborations with The Alchemist, DJ Skee and DJ Green Lantern where he reworked Nas’ Illmatic.
Fashawn has been further solidifying his rep by dropping what has been mostly freestyles under a series called “Sunday School.” Yesterday, Fashawn released something new as expected but this time it sounds more like a proper track. The song, produced by Javelin, showcases Fashawn rapping over some lush lo-fi pop. Reworking classic Nas to rapping with Lil Wayne (Grizzly City 3) to dropping rhymes over chill-wave! Definitely a far cry from his previous work but a little diversity in sound is always respected in the hip-hop world.
