Explosions in the Sky: "Postcard From 1952" (Live On Letterman) (Video)

David Letterman paid tribute to the “great music town” of Austin, Texas, in his introduction to Explosions in the Sky on his show last night (Aug. 2). Don’t expect to see Dave at the next SWSW, but he was generous enough to give these Texas natives some air time, which they used to play a shortened version of “Postcard from 1952” from Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. It’s rare to hear any instrumental music on the late night TV talk show circuit, so cherish this chance to hear Explosions play their bombastic take on familiar post-rock tropes while it lasts.
