Everclear, who haven't posted a single on any American chart since 2003, have followed up this year's covers album with yet another unnecessary release, "Jesus Was a Democrat." The song specifically takes aim at Americans who love Jesus but hate non-whites. And apparently, according to Alexakis, such people are not Democrats. "Jesus didn't look like the boy next door, unless you live in Palestine." The song which goes on to suggest that Jesus would not vote for John McCain if he were alive today, raises a number of serious questions - the most serious being, why did God choose to give this information to, of all people, Art Alexakis? "I'm pretty God-damned sure that you and your friends would find some way to kill him all over again." Leave it to Everclear to take immaculate information and immediately spite God with blasphemy. "Jesus Was a Democrat" is available as a free download via the band's official site. [Everclear]
Great song - absolutely awesome like what they used to do. The message of the song is that Jesus was against all violence and discrimination. In doing this, the song simply explains that because 'positively' discriminated violence is the back bone of the neo-con movement, Jesus would vote for the democrats as they are in principal against discrimination and unnecessary violence. Or at least, would not want to be associated with the war mongers currently in power.

Jesus wouldn't vote at all. He was anti politics from both angles.

JESUS WAS A DEMOCRAT ART ALEXANKIS IS THE BEST THIS SONG IS THE GREATEST EVERCLEAR IS AWESOME AND YALL JUST HATERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JESUS WAS A LEFT WING RADICAL JEW THAT WAS MURDERED BY PEOPLE LIKE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ridiculous that they wrote a song that would disrespect the separation of church and state. now i will admit that it is a very catchy song and sounds like everclear would do something like that, but come on, from this song i gather that art is an angry democrat that just wants to piss off as many people as possible. good song, bad message.

I have been proclaiming for years that per Jesus' teachings the closest example would be socialism.
Zack
I think that every american should boycott this song this is another example of a libralnutt case
chris
lol @ Chris ^
Isn't the whole basis of America the freedom to like any song you want? Thinking that every American should boycott a song just because you don't agree with the message is Un-American, and just another form of oppression and dictatorship. You sir, have more in common with the terrorists attacking our nation than the forefathers that formed it. Congratulations.
I can say with confidence, that despite the caliber of Everclear's contemporary work, "Father of Mine" is an awesome song.
