Eric Avery: All Remote and No Control (Video)

Original Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery often gets hosed when people discuss the band, but his propulsive and dexterous bass lines gave the band’s earlier recordings a lot of their pull. Avery barely (if ever) sang on Jane’s Addiction records, but if he had, we’d be talking about how Paul Banks from Interpol (or that dude from She Wants Revenge) sounds just like him.

This video for “All Remote and No Control” is from Avery’s solo album, Help Wanted, which was released in April via Dangerbird. The video rides the creepy and obtusely melodramatic line pretty well, but the song never shakes the Interpol comparison. [Stereogum]
