The first new album in three years by country legend Emmylou Harris is out now and is titled Hard Bargain. She appeared on David Letterman’s show last night (April 27), following a lofty intro from the host who described her as "an icon," to perform the jaunty “Six White Cadillacs.” It’s immediately apparent that Harris’ voice has lost none of its sparkle, which is no mean feat when you consider that she’s just entering her fifth decade of making music. But Harris is a lifer at this game, and she’s gotten into this position by producing decades of stirring material that still casts a huge influence over many performers with a county twang to their voices.
