Eminem has made a habit of showing up at the VMAs over the years, and the 2010 ceremony was no exception. It’s no surprise he was there—Em had eight nominations spread over various categories—but he also performed this mix of “Not Afraid/Love the Way You Lie.”
The stage set was based on St. Andrew’s Hall in Detroit, where anyone who has seen 8 Mile will know that Eminem first made his name, but the biggest talking point came when the song segued into “Love the Way You Lie” and a flame-haired Rihanna joined him for a duet (of sorts).
