One of the major flaws on Eminem's Relapse was how he buried a lot of the songs in goofy accents (is Detroit in Jamaica?) and faux-horrorshow lyrics. That's not a problem on the straight-ahead "Not Afraid," the first single from his upcoming Recovery album. Shady sounds like he's done messing around, going personal again, saying he's not afraid of how he's perceived by anyone. Granted, he made this point better on The Marshall Mathers LP, but this is a better look than anything off Relapse.
Recovery is due out on June 22 via Interscope.
